Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) is a portable and free tool that allows you to diagnose and resolve issues in Windows systems caused by malware or other failures. It is compatible with versions such as Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10, and 11, working in both normal and safe mode. Additionally, it can be run in the Windows Recovery Environment to diagnose and fix startup problems, making it especially useful in severe cases.

The FRST performs a detailed analysis of the system, generating reports in text format (such as FRST.txt and Addition.txt) that include information about Windows Registry load points, services, drivers, Netsvcs entries, known DLLs, disk drives, and partition specifications. It also lists important system files that may have been altered by malware. These reports help identify suspicious processes, malicious files, or compromised configurations, such as unsigned processes, scheduled tasks, or active logs.

The tool does not require installation, making it easy to use from a removable device, such as a USB drive. Although it is simple to execute — just download, run, and click "Scan" — its interpretation and advanced use (such as creating fix scripts in a "Fixlist.txt" file) require technical knowledge, making it more suitable for experienced users or IT professionals. FRST is recommended when common antivirus programs fail to detect or remove persistent threats, offering a detailed and flexible approach to system recovery.
