Double Commander is a free and open-source file manager with two side-by-side windows, inspired by Total Commander, but with enhanced features. It offers a text editor with syntax highlighting and a file viewer that allows you to view contents in hexadecimal, binary, or text formats.
Additionally, the software treats compressed files as subdirectories, allowing for easy copying of files in and out of the packages. It supports a wide range of file formats, including ZIP, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, LZMA, 7Z, RPM, CPIO, DEB, RAR, and ZIPX. It has advanced search capabilities with full-text search and is compatible with Total Commander plug-ins, expanding its capabilities and functionalities.
