Description

Blender Benchmark is a tool that allows you to evaluate hardware performance (CPU and GPU) when performing rendering tasks in Blender, a popular program for 3D modeling, animation, and rendering. It enables testing and comparing the performance of your systems in real rendering scenarios, helping to identify bottlenecks or choose hardware optimized for Blender.

Main Features:

  • Rendering Tests:
    • The benchmark runs predefined scenes (such as "Monster," "Junkshop," and "Classroom") that vary in complexity, testing different aspects of the Cycles rendering engine.
    • Supports rendering by CPU, GPU (via CUDA, OptiX for NVIDIA, or HIP for AMD) or both, depending on the hardware.
  • Rendering Engines:
    • Focused on Cycles, Blender's ray-tracing based rendering engine.
    • Tests settings such as ray-tracing, shading, and lighting calculations.
  • Results:
    • Measures the time taken to render the scenes (in minutes/seconds).
    • Provides a score (samples per second) to compare performance across systems.
    • Results can be submitted to Open Data, an online platform where users compare the performance of different hardware configurations.
