WinBox is an official utility from MikroTik for managing and configuring devices that use the RouterOS system. The program allows for graphical management of routers and switches from the brand, providing quick access to the main network functions without the need for text command lines.

The connection can be made either via IP address or through direct access using the MAC address, a particularly relevant feature in scenarios where the device does not yet have network configuration or is experiencing connectivity issues. This characteristic makes WinBox a common tool for initial installations, maintenance, and diagnostics.

The software provides nearly all the features available in RouterOS, including interface configuration, IP addressing, routing, firewall, NAT, bandwidth control queues, bridges, VLANs, services, users, and security policies. It also offers management of wireless access points, power adjustments, channels, protocols, and real-time traffic monitoring.

WinBox includes additional functionalities such as an integrated terminal, script editor, log viewing, file upload and download, configuration backup and restoration. Changes are applied directly to the device, allowing for immediate monitoring of the impact of the changes made.

Resource consumption is low, and execution is fast, even on older computers. Compatibility is focused on Windows systems, although it can be used in other environments through compatibility layers.
